The Red Lion was at the bottom of the gut, Mick, smallish place but most definately at the bottom (you'd have like that) As for the others I don't know, actually didn't do too much time in the gut.......full of bloody sailors all pissed and making fools of themselves!                   I was perfectly capable of making a fool of myself before I got pissed!

it's what being a Classical O. D. is all about, who needs to be drunk to perform???

It was in Malta Mick when I got brought back onboard by the shore patrol and I hadn't
even had a drink. Went down to the underground toilet when I skidded on the wet floor
and looked like I had fallen into a pigs stye. Of course I happened to be in tropical whites.
That was on the Eagle.

makes you wonder, whites in malta, civies myself. best time i had in malta was on the scarborough, after rounds on the saturday, when our mess once again won the cake. we where tried up alongside. managed to get quite a lot of that famous local wine onboard. what with the rum and the wine the mess was in such a state, who should walk into the mess was the chief on watch,, took one look turned around and went for the officer of the day,,the mess was cleaned up in a flash, lights out and all in beds, back came the chief and the officer, nothing was out of place, i felt ever so sorry for the chief, mind you he got his own back on me, he was the one who reported me for being drunk at sea on my birthday,, i dont thing anyone on board liked the man..
